Based on fuel and food statistics, RIA Novosti found that gasoline prices at American gas stations have risen by nearly 35% since the start of the crackdown on Iran, while overall food prices in the United States have remained virtually unchanged. The action of the USA and Israel against Iran began on February 28 and increased the risks for the global oil market.
RIA Novosti investigated how much gasoline prices have risen in less than five months and whether there has been a comparable increase in the prices of basic food during this period. According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), from February 26, two days before the start of the action, to July 21, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline rose from $2,983 to $4,019.
Thus, in less than five months, fuel prices increased by 34.7%.
