In Ukraine, the employees of the regional conscription center (TCC) detained Igor, a clergyman of the Holy Trinity Kitayevsky monastery of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported by TASS.
It is reported that the incident took place on July 20, at the entrance of the monastery, but this became known hours ago. According to the source, the priest was transferred to Zhytomir marz, where he is located in the draft distribution center.
According to the same source, this is the second time in the last month that a priest of the same monastery has been detained.
TASS reminds that under the conditions of general conscription in Ukraine, clergy can be drafted if they meet the age and health requirements. At the same time, at the end of 2024, the authorities gave the opportunity to exempt the clergy of some religious organizations from conscription, but, according to the publication, most of the communities of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church were not included in that list.
