Former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov has stated that he will not agree to any other position in the government system of the country, apart from his previous job.
Mikhail Fedorov, dismissed from the position of Minister of Defense of Ukraine, said that he will not accept any position in the state apparatus, except for his previous position.
"Today, there are only three positions in the state, which, apart from the soldiers on the battlefield, really decide the course of the war. They are the President, the Minister of Defense and the Commander-in-Chief. That's why I don't agree to any other position, except for the position of Minister of Defense," he replied to Volodymyr Zelensky's proposals to continue working in the team in a different capacity. His words were quoted on the Telegram channel by former adviser to the former Minister of Defense Sergey Sternenko.
Zelensky confirmed on July 23 that he discussed with Fedorov the issue of appointing him to various positions. According to him, the last offer was the position of the deputy prime minister for military innovations. Moreover, Zelensky did not clarify whether he suggested Fedorov to return to the position of the head of the Ministry of Defense. At the same time, the Ukrainian media reported that it is the only appointment that Fedorov, who was deposed last week, is ready to agree to.
Earlier, Zelensky was forced to dismiss the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Sirsky, against the backdrop of nationwide protests. However, now the protesters insist that Zelensky fulfill the main demand of the "cardboard Maidan" to return Fedorov to the position of the Minister of Defense.
