The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has announced that he has offered several positions to former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, the last of which is the position of Deputy Prime Minister for Military Innovations. He said this during a joint press conference with Irish Prime Minister Michal Martin in Kyiv.
Zelensky emphasized that it is necessary to coordinate with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, the leadership of the army and, of course, the president of Ukraine. He added that it should be done every day, and he suggested it to Fedorov.
Let's remind that last week the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky decided to dismiss Mikhail Fedorov from the position of the Minister of Defense and to appoint Yevgeny Khmara, the former acting head of the National Security Service, in his place. The majority of Ukrainians do not support this decision of the president, and protests have started in the country.
Zelensky clarified that Fedorov's release was connected to the lack of effective interaction between the Ministry of Defense and the leadership of the Armed Forces. According to him, the parties could not manage the work without the participation of the head of the country, although they had to cooperate every day.
At the same time, the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, Alexander Sirsky, announced that there was no conflict between him and Fedorov. According to him, only labor disagreements arise between the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense, which the parties resolve according to the usual procedure.
Earlier, Fedorov said that Zelensky proposed to change the military leadership, but the president did not support that idea. After that, according to the former minister, the General Staff started to block the reforms he proposed.
It is known that Zelensky offered Fedorov a new position, but according to RBC-Ukraine sources, Fedorov is ready to return only to the position of Minister of Defense.
