Ukraine and Hungary have not signed a bilateral security agreement due to Hungary's refusal to support Ukraine's accession to NATO.
Vladimir Zelensky announced this at the press conference following the summit of the European Political Community in Budapest, TASS reports.
"Hungary's support for Ukraine in the EU and Ukraine in NATO is important for us. The document currently does not contain Hungary's support for Ukraine in NATO.
Since this is not the case, this document is not signed. That is the problem," said Zelensky. Ukraine has signed similar agreements with the USA, Great Britain and some other NATO countries.
All of these treaties stipulate that Ukrainian armed forces will be obligated to defend their territory in the event of an attack on Ukraine's allies, but none of the agreements provide for direct military assistance in the event of an attack on Ukraine.
