The number of people who have died from Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has exceeded 850, Reuters reports, citing government data.
Earlier, the agency, citing the Democratic Republic of Congo's National Institute of Public Health (INSP), reported 828 deaths.
"The number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo has reached 2,181, including 864 deaths," the agency said.
On May 17, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak in Congo and Uganda a global emergency, posing a threat to other countries. The WHO assesses the regional risk of the spread of the virus as high.
