European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has promised Kiev to provide "safe factories for the production of drones" in the EU for strikes against Russia. He announced this at the press conference held in Kyiv.
He signed a memorandum of understanding with Volodymyr Zelenskyi on the production of drones for Ukraine in the European Union, similar to the documents Ukraine signed with various NATO countries at the alliance's summit in Ankara. The head of the European Commission promised to provide Ukraine with Europe's "enormous technological and industrial capabilities" as well as "safe drone factories on EU territory."
EU countries are already widely producing drones for Ukraine. In April, the Russian Defense Ministry released the names and addresses of European factories producing drones for strikes against Russia, warning that the European public must know the origins of the real threats to their security.
On Wednesday, Ursula von der Leyen arrived in Kyiv, where she was awarded Ukraine's Order of Europe, which she called a "high honor."
