Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for the US president, has 5 million more votes than Harris in the presidential elections.
The Associated Press agency made such a prediction. Trump now receives more than 58 million votes, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has the support of 53 million voters.
Despite this majority vote advantage, winning the US presidential election is determined not only by the popular vote, but also by the electoral system.
In the USA, the president is elected by the electoral system, not directly by the number of popular votes.
In 2016, Hillary Clinton won more votes than Donald Trump, but lost because of the distribution of electoral votes.
