"Fact" daily writes:
As it is known, at the end of this year, the 9th grade students of all RA schools will pass the final exam of "Literature" and "Armenian History" subjects in essay format, through written work integrating the content of both subjects.
Both experts in the field, many teachers and parents record that this is one of the most unacceptable, most wrong decisions of the Ministry of Education, which is doomed to failure from the very beginning. Why? First, with such an essay, it is impossible to get an idea of what knowledge the student has in the mentioned subjects, because not all historical events are reflected in literature, and not all literary works have a historical basis.
As a result, the student may have to compare, for example, Mikael Nalbandian's poem "Freedom" and the myth "Hayk and Belle" (although the latter can be classified more in the "Literature" subject), or make other incomparable comparisons. Secondly, for nine years the students did not write an essay, they did not make these comparisons, because it was not planned in the program.
Now, instead of introducing the programs according to the "State standard of public education" from the lower grades, and planning the exam only years later, they have decided to confront the students with the facts. As a result, neither the students nor the teachers have any idea how the exam should be conducted.
This, of course, is also known at KGSMSN. That's why they decided to organize a webinar-question-and-answer session on the essay for teachers and students on March 27. It can be said that it is better late than never, but the point is that preparing students for such an exam in just two months means simply teaching the "technique" of the exam, putting a "button" on it and moving on. And there will be no result.
But education officials probably don't care. It is important to note that the "new standard" is in progress. And what will happen to our educational system, to students, to tomorrow, is not essential. Nevertheless, let us inform you that teachers and students should fill in the questions they are interested in by March 24, the answers to which will be presented during the above-mentioned webinar-question-and-answer session.
