The UN World Food Program is warning of looming famine in the Gaza Strip as Israel continues to restrict food and humanitarian supplies to the Palestinian enclave. This was reported by the Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera. According to its data, practically no help is reaching the residents of northern Gaza, who remain under the Israeli siege, which has been going on for almost a month.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, only 971 aid trucks were allowed to enter the strip through the Kerem Shalom crossing in the south between October 1 and October 27.
This is equivalent to about 36 cars per day, significantly lower than the pre-war average of 500 cars daily, Al Jazeera points out.
