WSJ: The US has launched an investigation into the UAE's investment in a Trump-linked crypto company

Democratic member of the US House of Representatives, Ro Khanna, is investigating the $500 million investment made by representatives of the United Arab Emirates authorities to the crypto company World Liberty Financial (WLF), which is linked to the family of US President Donald Trump. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Wednesday.

The lawmaker demanded that WLF chief Zach Wittkoff, the son of the US president's special envoy and the company's co-founder Stephen Wittkoff, produce documents about the secret deal, which was made shortly before Trump's inauguration in January 2025.

According to the newspaper, the $500 million deal for the sale of 49 percent of the company's shares was signed by the proxies of Donald Trump's son, Eric Trump, as well as Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the National Security Adviser to the UAE President.
