There is a risk that Europe will agree to hand over Greenland to the United States in an attempt to please Washington, Bloomberg reported, citing a senior official attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
According to him, many people in Europe agree that "the order created after the Second World War is over" and that US President Donald Trump's territorial conquests will change world politics. An agency source expressed concern that European leaders could agree to give up Greenland in "another attempt to appease the White House."
"Bloomberg" also notes that European officials were stunned by the loss of US support and the speed with which Washington switched from a friendly approach to a hostile one. The agency notes that some have admitted to having difficulty "responding to a barrage of ever-changing threats and demands that defy logic."
