The United States should immediately release Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who, as US President Donald Trump announced, were kidnapped and taken out of the country, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"China calls on the United States to ensure the personal safety of President Maduro and his wife, immediately release President Maduro and his wife, stop attempts to undermine Venezuela's political power, and resolve issues through dialogue and negotiation," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its concern over the abduction of the President of Venezuela and his wife by the United States. The Ministry noted that US actions violate international law and fundamental norms of international relations, as well as contradict the goals and principles of the UN Charter.
