Egypt proposed a two-day ceasefire in Gaza

Egypt has proposed to first sign a temporary ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and release several hostages before the ceasefire in the enclave is completely suspended. The president of the country, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, made such a statement during a press conference held in Cairo with his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmajid Tebuni.

"Egypt has been making active efforts in the past few days to promote a two-day temporary ceasefire and exchange of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons for the four hostages," Al-Sisi said.

The Egyptian president also stated that after reaching a temporary agreement, "consultations should take place within 10 days to move to a complete ceasefire in Gaza."
