"Zhoghovurd" daily writes:
"The law enforcement agencies have not returned the personal belongings of the clergy of Aragatsotni Diocese and their family members until now. This was stated by the defenders of the clergy in a conversation with "Zhoghovurd" daily.
Let's remind that last month, on October 15, the law enforcement officers carried out large-scale searches in the houses of a number of clergymen of Aragatsotn diocese and civilian employees of the Armenian Apostolic Church. According to the lawyers, during the searches, phones, children's tablets and various personal belongings were confiscated not only from the clergy, but also from their family members.
Immediately after the incident, in a conversation with "Zhoghovurd" daily, the lawyers warned that among the seized items there were personal and family materials that have nothing to do with the criminal case.
Let us remind that on October 15, the leader of Aragatsotn Diocese, the priest of Saghmosavank, Father Paren Arakelyan, three employees of Aragatsotn Diocese, the accountant, the treasurer and the referee, were arrested. In total, the number of arrested clergy reached 12. It should be noted that on the day of the incident, the location of four clergymen, Ter Hambardzum, Ter Narek, Ter Sargis, Ter Oshin, and Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, leader of Aragatsotn Diocese, was unknown for a long time. the latter is the son of the Catholicos of All Armenians' sister.
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia announced in connection with the incident that "a criminal proceeding has been initiated in connection with the case of using the official or official powers or the influence caused by them to prevent or coerce the holding of an assembly or to participate in it, as well as to take material interest in order to participate or refuse to participate in the assembly", within the framework of which the necessary procedural and evidentiary actions are being carried out. However, more than two weeks have passed and the investigative body has not yet returned the confiscated personal items.
According to the information of "Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper, the lawyers submitted applications on this occasion both to the Prosecutor General of RA and to the head of the Investigative Committee, but until now no response or official answer has been received.
In fact, people's personal belongings continue to remain with the investigative body, in the opinion of the lawyers, without legal justification, violating the principle of inviolability of private life."
