The temptation for the third term is dangerous for statehood. "Fact"

The "Fact" daily writes:

In the recent history of Armenia, there was always a priority to prevent a long-ending of one's power in one person or one person. That is why the "border" of the ban on reproduction of government for a third term was an important achievement of political culture, which defended the viability and democratic competition of state institutions. Today, conversations about the third term are dangerous not for individuals, but for the system. When the purpose of reproduction becomes only the maintenance of the government, not the development of the country, the loss of trust, both inside or outside. The competitive field is shrinking, the political process turns into an administrative resource exhibition, and the voice of society is formal.

The suspicion of the elections within the ruling party is especially worrying. The stories of ballot capacity or unexpected broadcasting broadcasts undermine trust and question the justice of the future elections. Against such a background, the new constitution initiative is perceived not as a reform, but a tool of external concessions. Moreover, high promises on European integration remain empty words without clear steps and road map. All this deepens distrust and shows that the political agenda often serves not to maintain the state but to maintain power.

The third term is also in danger for civil liberties. The motion of maintenance of power usually leads to the strengthening of pressure, which suffocates initiative and investors in Van. Therefore, it is vital for Armenia to maintain the natural change of power as a state insurance. Transparent elections are needed, independent control bodies and broad public discussions on constitutional changes and external directions. Only so it will be possible to maintain national values and stability of statehood, avoiding the difficult consequences of long-term government.
