The council of elders of the Sisian community of Syunik marz elected Hovsep Arakelyan, a member of the "Civil Agreement" faction, as the head of the community with 14 votes in favor.
A few days ago, the former head of the community, Armen Hakobjanyan, submitted his resignation, and the CP nominated faction member Hovsep Arakelyan for the post of community leader.
Considering that CP has 13 members of the Council of Elders, it turns out that one of the 14 votes Arakelyan received was from the opposition members of the Council of Elders. The members of the "Civil Contract" faction of Sisian's Council of Elders had earlier boycotted the session of the Council of Elders scheduled for September 13, which only former community head Armen Hakobjanyan participated.
Not only Armen Hakobjanyan left, but also his two deputies, Karen Hovhannisyan and Garik Hakobyan. Armen Hakobjanyan and Karen Hovhannisyan also resigned from the mandates of the Council of Elders, while Garik Hakobyan was not a member of the Council of Elders.
The new leader of the community, 34-year-old Hovsep Arakelyan, was the head of the South Center (Syunik and Vayots Dzor) division of the RA Health and Labor Inspection Authority.
