An unexpected consequence of beer dependence has been named

Dutch scientists have found that beer lovers are 35% more attractive to mosquitoes. The results of the study were published in the Biorxi Printing Service.

The experience took place in unusual conditions, at the Lupuland Music Festival, where the researchers of the Radbud University have created a portable laboratory.

About 500 volunteers took part in the study. At first, the participants completed questionnaires on food, hygiene and lifestyle, after which they put his hand in a special transparent compartment with insects. The mosquitoes could not bite, but responded to the smell of skin. The cameras built on the camera walls recorded the level of interest of insects.

The results showed that the beer lovers became more attractive for mosquitoes by about 35%. Insects also paid more attention to those who shared the bed with a partner the day before. On the contrary, recently taking a shower and the use of sunscreen has reduced the likelihood of becoming a target.

According to scientists, mosquitoes depend not only of carbon dioxide and warmth, but also from skin chemical signals, which change under human habits. This data helps to explain why some people become the real "magnets" of insects, while others are almost suffering from bites.

The authors of the work emphasize that mosquitoes are dangerous infections, including malaria and Dengue fever. Therefore, even simple events, regular showers and sunscreen from moderately use of alcohol can become additional health protection.
