Scientists reveal unexpected truth about "beauty injections"

Such cosmetic interventions like Botox and fillers make people slightly more attractive to others, but they have little effect on how warm, smart or desirable they are as long-term partners. This conclusion was reached by the Netherlands. The work was published in "Perception" magazine.

Scientists have conducted two large-scale studies involved in 3,200 people. Volunteers have appreciated people's photos before and after the injections of beauty. Any person has been shown only one facial version before or after interference to eliminate the effect of direct comparison.

The results showed that after the interventions, the faces were assessed as slightly younger and more attractive. The growth was only 0.09 points on the seven scale. However, trust, intellect, kindness and charism have not changed at all.

In the second study, men evaluated women as potential partners. After the interventions, they were slightly more likely to choose friendship or short meetings, but not for a serious relationship.

Compared to other ways of improving the appearance, the impact was moderate. Makeup increased about 0.6 points, digital "skin smoothing" - 0.7, and the smile was 0.4.

"We really saw the growth of attractiveness, but it was very small. This means that many people overestimate the social impact of such procedures, "said the author of the study Bastian Yeger from the University of Tilburg.
