Scientists reveal the horrible truth about loneliness

The International Scholars' International Group found that loneliness affects not only mood, but also for individuality, brain function, immune system and even dreams. The work was published in Nature Human Behavior (NHB) magazine.

Loneliness is more and more often called not only an unpleasant feeling, but a factor that can change a person inside. New research shows that long-lasting social isolation affects not only mood, but also individual lines, physiology, and even how the brain develops social information.

The large-scale surveys of the elderly in the United States have shown that those who are constantly lonely become less uneasy, less disciplined and more troubled. Scientists say that changes affect the main character lines, not only on the current mood.

Other studies link only to emotional instability and negative self-esteem. Such people are more inclined to perceive themselves as a burden of loved ones. At the physiological level, loneliness is accompanied by changes in the level of proteins participating in immune-faced processes. This can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

The effect of loneliness is even felt in sleep. According to American psychologists, single people are more inclined to see nightmares, and their rest is less restorative. Neuropertics Studies show that such people respond differently to familiar people and even fictional characters. In some cases, the border between real and "fake-social" ties is vague, and the brain is almost identically developed by friends and television characters.

Teenagers are especially vulnerable. The results of the long-term observations of more than 11,000 people in the United States have shown that at the age of 15 significantly increasing the risk of depression and post-traumatic stress disorder in advertising.

Scientists note that loneliness cannot be seen as just a lack of association. It is a complex and multi-level experience that gradually changes human feelings, thinking and interaction with the world.
