The Paralympic Winter Games will begin on March 6 and run through March 15. The competitions will be held in Milan, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Tessero and Verona.
The National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine has announced that the Ukrainian team will boycott the opening ceremony. The Paralympic Committees of the Czech Republic and Canada also made a similar decision.
In September 2025, the International Paralympic Committee reinstated the membership of the National Committees of Russia and Belarus, which had been suspended after the outbreak of war between Russia and Ukraine. The decision will allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete with their flag and anthem in Milan, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Verona and Tessero.
The International Paralympic Committee clarified that 6 athletes from Russia and 4 from Belarus received permission to participate in the Games. The Italian government strongly disagreed with that decision.
