The President of Moldova responded to the results of the presidential elections

The President of Moldova, Maya Sandu, invited her opponent Alexander Stojanoglou to a debate in the second round of the elections, "RIA Novosti" reports.


"In the near future, we should hold serious debates, discuss the future of Moldova and its path," Sandu said. According to him, his team will contact Stoyanoglou to discuss the organization of the debate. Sandu also stated that the majority of Moldovan citizens expressed their will during the last vote, choosing the path of joining the European Union.


The first round of presidential elections in Moldova took place on October 20.


Maya Sandu, the current head of the state, won 42.21% of the votes. The former Prosecutor General of Moldova, originally from Gagauzia, Alexander Stoianoglo received 26.15 percent. Simultaneously with the presidential elections, a referendum was held on the European integration course of Moldova.
