Chinese Temu threatens a multimillion fine in the EU

The Chinese Temu Online platform from the European Union can be fine until 6% of its world circulation. The reason is that, according to the European Commission, the service violates the Law on Digital Services. Brussels believes that EU users are at high risk of buying illegal or dangerous goods on this site, Bild writes.

"The security of consumers on the Internet in the EU is not a subject of bargaining," said Henna Virkhu.

The investigation into Temu began in October 2024. The European Commission is studying not only the range of products, but also the platform interface. It can be dependent on buyers and push them into non-targeted expenses.

TEMU has also been further criticized by European Consumer Protection Organizations. According to them, the platform uses suspicious methods, from false responses and false discounts to the lack of clear information on the return of goods. Buyers also mislead the "only 2 left" messages.
