The second round of the presidential elections in Moldova will be held on November 3, as none of the candidates received more than 50% of the votes. Chairman of the Central Election Commission Anzhelika Karaman announced this during a briefing.

“Preliminary information shows that none of the 11 candidates for the post of President of the Republic of Moldova received more than 50% of the votes of voters who took part in the elections. Accordingly, a second round of elections will be organized within two weeks,” she said. Based on the results of processing 98.56% of the protocols, the current President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, receives 42.07% of the votes in the elections, former Prosecutor General Alexander Stoianoglo, who criticizes Sandu for the policy of confrontation with Moscow, receives 26.27%. The leader of “Our Party” Renato Usatyi closes the top three with 13.72% of the votes. Next come ex-head of Gagauzia Irina Vlah and former prosecutor Victoria Furtune, who have 5.44% and 4.50% respectively, followed by ex-prime minister Vasily Tarlev (3.22%) and Ion Chicu (2.08%).
