The Ukrainian authorities have come up with a gas export scheme alternative to the one that currently exists. This was reported by RBC, with reference to sources cited by RBC Ukraine. The option proposed by Kiev involves replacing Russian gas with Azerbaijani gas. The intended acquirer purchases this energy carrier at the entry point from Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation or from the Russian Federation to Ukraine. At the same time, the owner of the gas himself negotiates on transporting gas through the territory of the Russian Federation and pumping it into Ukrainian storage facilities.
Afterwards he will be able to use it at will. For example, for sale abroad. Ukraine, within the framework of this design, turns out to be a transit state, and a re-exporter. The key element of this scheme is that each of the participants in the transaction (the gas seller and its buyer) will themselves agree with Russia on the security of supplies. It is assumed that in this way Kyiv will secure its gas transportation system in conditions of hostilities.
