Peskov said what is needed to stop the fire in Ukraine

Russian President's Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that direct talks between Moscow and Kiev are needed to reach a ceasefire in the Ukrainian conflict.

On May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed representatives of Russian and foreign media and offered Ukraine to resume direct talks in Istanbul without preconditions.

Immediately after Putin's statement, Peskov told the British journalist of Sky Sky News that it is a very serious analysis based on the situation.

"You have to handle direct talks to find a ceasefire. The simplified approach of the ceasefire is unacceptable, "he said.

However, Vladimir Zelensky answered Putin's peace initiative. He demanded that Moscow agree to the conclusion of a full ceasefire since May 12, and only after that the Kiev regime will sit at the negotiating table.
