North Korea plans to close roads with South Korea

The General Staff of North Korea stated that the deterioration of the situation on the Korean Peninsula requires "taking more decisive measures" for the security of the country. In this regard, the DPRK will close the roads and railways with South Korea. The department's statement was quoted by the Korean Central News Agency, KCNA. According to North Korea's General Staff, the "confrontation obsession of hostile forces" which "openly displays attempts to use force to encroach on the DPRK's sovereignty" makes it more unpredictable. The security situation on the Korean peninsula.

As an example, the department mentioned military exercises conducted between South Korea and the United States.

"On October 9, construction work will begin to completely close the roads and railways with South Korea and strengthen them with strong defense structures. In any case, the permanent blockade of the southern border with South Korea is a self-defense measure aimed at preventing war and protecting the security of the republic," said the statement of the General Staff of the DPRK. In January, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un proposed to constitutionally ensure South Korea as a arch-enemy status and called for the abandonment of the term "compatriots" for South Koreans.
Last week, Kim Jong-un threatened to use nuclear weapons if North Korea attacked.
