The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, criticized the actions of the Armenian leadership regarding Nagorno Karabakh. In a conversation with journalists in Minsk, he shared the details of the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing his mediating role.
According to him, the president of Azerbaijan "offered economic cooperation and investments to Armenia without the intention of starting a war."
"I used to run between them like a child.
Aliyev proposed economic cooperation and investments. He did not even intend to go to war against Armenia," said Lukashenko, adding that these proposals were public, but were not promoted "due to the position of the Armenian leadership".
The leader of Belarus admitted that he once told the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, that "that stinking policy always costs something".
Aliyev allegedly offered 5 billion dollars through him to the then president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, to transfer the seven regions to Azerbaijan.
According to Lukashenko, Sargsyan allegedly responded with a counter-offer: 6 billion dollars to cede those territories.
"Sargsyan even got angry with me for that," Lukashenko noted.
He added that the "responsibility for the outcome of the Karabakh conflict rests entirely with the leadership of Armenia".
