"Baku group" has once again tried to destabilize our national political life in New Caledonia.
These futile attempts by Azerbaijan in our overseas territories are unacceptable and must be stopped immediately," French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Lecornu wrote about this in X.
This is how the minister responded to the holding of the Congress of the International Decolonization Front in Noumea (administrative center of New Caledonia) by the initiative group of Baku.
According to X's statement, the event, which took place on January 23-25, was to be attended by representatives from the French overseas territories, as well as several Corsican associations that advocated independence from France.
More than 15 leaders of political parties and independence movements from Guadeloupe, Corsica, Melanesia, Polynesia, Caribbean and Antilles participated in the previous congress organized in the capital of Azerbaijan in July 2024.
At this meeting, they signed a declaration on the creation of the International Front for the Liberation of the French Colonies.
The initiative group of Baku was created at the conference held in Azerbaijan in July 2023, within the framework of the ministerial meeting of the coordinating bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement.
It declared its goal to support the struggle of peoples suffering from colonial rule in the 21st century.
