The Government of the Republic of Armenia has submitted a draft of amendments to the decision "On granting a deferment from compulsory military service to a citizen for purposeful study and defining the conditions for terminating the granted deferment", which is aimed at improving the deferment granting process."Armenpress"according to the report, the main goal of the adoption of the project is the full implementation of the amendments to the Law on "Military Service and the Status of Servicemen" and the digitization and simplification of the deferment granting process.
According to the current regulation, citizens are required to apply for the summer draft until December 1, and for the winter draft, until December 1. The new draft proposes to extend the application period, which will enable the citizens subject to the draft to submit their applications in a longer period of time :
The project also envisages the adjustment of the conditions for granting a deferral to the new regulations of educational programs. According to the proposed changes, citizens studying in general education programs will receive a deferral until the end of their studies, for students in vocational and secondary professional education programs, the deferral will be granted until the end of their studies, but not more than the day of completion of 20 years. :
