The Netherlands could face US sanctions

The Netherlands is in a special danger under the US law on sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC), because the court is located on the territory of this country, writes the Dutch newspaper Volkskrant.
The House of Representatives of the US Congress on Thursday adopted a bill on sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC) in connection with the actions of the agency against the leadership of Israel.

According to the newspaper, Dutch law enforcement officers are at risk of being caught up in this bill.

As noted, this measure appears to have been originally intended to prevent the ICC, and in particular Prosecutor Karim Khan, from taking further action against the Israelis.

However, this also applies to those who collect evidence, arrest, transport, interrogate and detain suspects, meaning that both government and NGO workers who provide information to the prosecutor may be affected.
