Putin and Pezeshkian will sign an agreement on strategic partnership

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian will visit Moscow on January 17 to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and sign the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement. The new document will replace the outdated agreement of 2001 and will raise the level of relations between Moscow and Tehran in the context of the acute conflict with the West.

As Iranian diplomatic sources told Kommersant, cooperation with Moscow in the field of security and defense will be one of the priorities.

Russia and Iran will take a decisive step towards rapprochement on the eve of the inauguration of the newly elected US President Donald Trump, who does not rule out war with Iran and attacks on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities.
