A new financial agreement of 236 million euros with the European Investment Bank. the Sisian-Kajaran section will be built


At its meeting today, January 9, the government approved the "Armenia. Sisian-Kajaran road section project "European Fund for Sustainable Development + Special Investment Window 1" to the project of the law "On ratifying the financial contract". This financial contract is in the amount of 236 million euros.

The planned funds will be directed to the financing of a part of the general project for the construction of a new 60 km long single-lane road junction between Sisian and Kajaran in Syunik Marz, RA.

The project will be implemented in three sub-sections: Northern sub-section (Northern road cut from Sisian to Shenatagh) with a length of 27.1 km, Bargushati tunnel with a length of 8.6 km, Southern sub-section with a length of 24.25 km.

As part of the project, an 11.1m wide (including reinforced shoulders), 3-lane (3.30m) road, 27 bridges with a length of 4.7 km and 9 tunnels with a total length of 12.5 km will be built, the longest of which is the Bargushat tunnel with a length of 8.6 km (Project tunnel). the sector will be financed separately).

The construction of the North and South subsections of the Sisian-Kajaran road of the Project will be financed with the funds provided for in the contract. The project will also be co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Asian Development Bank, each in the amount of 236 million euros.

The project is planned to be completed by 2033. December.
