The chairmanship of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) officially passed from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan on January 1, 2025, TASS reports.
This decision was adopted at the meeting of the Collective Security Council held in Astana on November 28, 2024, in which the presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan participated.
As the head of state of Kyrgyzstan Sadir Japarov stated, during his presidency in the organization, the republic intends to develop its peacekeeping potential, as well as cooperation between the parties in the field of preventing the use of modern information technologies by extremists.
