The US plans to grant status to illegal migrants who have lived in the country for 10 years. CBS News

US President Joe Biden's administration plans to announce one of the largest immigration relief programs in recent history, which would grant legal status to hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants, CBS News reported, citing a source familiar with the matter. The program would offer work permits and protection from deportation to illegal immigrants married to U.S. citizens, provided they have lived in the U.S. for at least 10 years, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The proposal, known as " Parole in Place" would also pave the way for permanent legal status and US citizenship for some beneficiaries, removing a barrier in US law that prevents those who entered the US illegally from obtaining green cards without leaving the country. Another plan that being prepared by the Biden administration would streamline the process of obtaining undocumented benefits for Dreamers and immigrants who would more easily obtain temporary visas, such as H-1B visas for high-quality workers, the sources said. They added that the funds will be announced as early as Tuesday, but the administration has not yet fully developed the plan.
