Syrian government forces are fighting militants near Hama

Syrian government forces are continuing operations against militants who captured Aleppo last week. The correspondent of the Syrian state news agency SANA reported that the armed forces of the country struck the targets of the militants near Hama. "A large number of terrorists and their vehicles were destroyed," SANA correspondent said. In turn, the Reuters agency reports that Syrian anti-government forces have approached the city of Hama.

According to the "Syrian Observatory of Human Rights" organization, the militants captured the settlements near the city. Syrian state media reported that auxiliary forces were sent to the region. According to Reuters, the attack on Hama will increase the pressure on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. the city has remained under the control of government forces since the outbreak of civil war in the country in 2011.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran will consider sending troops to Syria if Damascus asks, and Russian President Vladimir Putin called for an end to "terrorist aggression" in Syria. Iraqi Prime Minister Shia al-Sudani, for his part, announced that Baghdad will not remain in the role of "just a spectator".

Meanwhile, fighters from the US-backed, Kurdish-led coalition have clashed with Syrian government forces in the country's northeast, opening a new front along a vital supply route.
