A ban on the export of whitefish from the territory of the Republic of Armenia has been established

The Executive Board adopted a decision "On applying a temporary ban on the export of whitefish fry from the Republic of Armenia" based on the demand for sustainable use of living resources and preservation of biodiversity in Lake Sevan. According to the reasoning, as a result of the process of regulation of industrial fishing of whitefish in Lake Sevan, in recent years there has been an increase in whitefish biomass in Lake Sevan (in 2019: 2668 tons, in 2020: 2345 tons, in 2021: 5348 tons, in 2022: 4700 tons), which makes it possible to ensure a small amount of productive fishing in Lake Sevan (2020: 300 tons, 2021: 300 tons, 2022: 600 tons, 2023: 600 tons). However, the trend of increasing whitefish biomass in recent years still does not ensure the normal growth and optimal number of wild fish species in the lake. Accordingly, the decision proposes to impose a six-month ban on the export from the territory of the Republic of Armenia of whitefish fry belonging to the salmon species originating in the Republic of Armenia under the codes of the EAEU ETA AA 1604 32 001 0 and 0511 91 901.
