Maersk warns of a drop in world cargo transportation

Maersk said that in April, the container transportation between China and the United States fell by 30-40% due to new customs duties. The company warned that if the trade war continues, in 2025 the volume of world sea cargo can be reduced.

Although Maersk maintains its entire year's profit forecast (6-9 US dollars) states that in the second half of the year it is possible to decline if customs duties are not allowed.
Maersk's executive director noted that talking about local production is unrealistic. "If we have to pay in the United States, one T-shirt will not be below $ 150."

The ongoing disruptions of Red Sea continue to keep the shipping prices high, helping Maersk maintain profits. In the first quarter, the company's EBITDA increased by 70% to $ 2.71 billion, Reuters reports.
