The EU plans to exempt 80% of Armenian exports to the European Union from customs duties, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced. "We offer so-called autonomous trading mechanisms. This means the liberalization of approximately 80% of Armenian exports to the European Union.
This means that 80% of your trade with us will be duty-free," said the head of the European Commission during a briefing with RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan. He believes this could help redirect products that are currently heavily dependent on the Russian market to the 450 million EU single market.
"This mechanism will open the door to Europe for almost 99% of Armenia's fresh agricultural products, vegetables, fruits and organic products, as well as more than 90% of your exports of beverages and spirits," von der Leyen said.
