The list of demands of the European Union (EU) against Russia drawn up by the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Callas, will not affect Moscow's position on the EU's participation in the Ukraine conflict settlement negotiations.
This opinion was reported by the newspaper "Junge Welt" (JW). The article notes that demands on Russia, such as significant troop reductions, are more like "demands for unconditional surrender" and that such demands are not enough to build the kind of dialogue that would secure the EU a seat at the negotiating table on Ukraine, especially given Brussels' lack of tools to pressure Moscow.
The publication emphasizes that anti-Russian sanctions have harmed the EU more than Russia. On February 10, Kaya Callas announced that the EU has its own list of demands on Russia as part of the settlement of the Ukraine conflict.
