Russia has already expressed its readiness to accept a surplus of enriched uranium from Iran, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President.
Earlier, the Wall Street Journal, citing American, Iranian and regional diplomatic sources, reported that Iran expressed its readiness to send part of its highly enriched uranium reserves to a third party, such as Russia. Most of the stockpile is currently believed to be buried in the rubble of the nuclear facilities struck by the US and Israel in June.
"We had an initiative. we have announced our readiness to accept enriched uranium; it was discussed," Peskov told reporters, responding to Russia's acceptance of the US proposal for uranium storage in the Middle East.
