Lukashenko pardoned 20 people convicted of extremism

On New Year's Eve, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed a decree granting amnesty to 22 people. This was reported by the "Pul Pervi" (First Pool) Telegram channel, which is connected to the press service of the president.

According to him, they all appealed to the head of state for forgiveness, admitted their guilt and expressed remorse. Twenty people were convicted for extremist crimes. Seven of those pardoned were men, 15 were women, 11 of them had minor children.

As Pool One notes, the president made the pardon decision based on humanitarian considerations, in the interests of the families and taking into account the positive characteristics of the pardoned persons.

In mid-December, it became known that within the framework of the agreements reached with US President Donald Trump, Lukashenko decided to pardon 123 citizens of different countries who were convicted of espionage, terrorism and extremism.
