The possible replacement of the Catholicos, change of the charter and the rehabilitation of the Church Procedures are fully in the field of the jurisdiction of the National Church Assembly. Speaking about this in a conversation with SPUTNIK Armenia, Ter Women's extreme Vardapet Ananyan, referring to the anti-church campaign initiated by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
On July 23, Pashinyan stated that members of the Movement of "Liberation of Motherland" must meet certain criteria and meet them and can lead to the movement. Touching upon Pashinyan's statement to replace the Church's charter in the world, the clergyman noted that even if it is completed worldwide, the charter does not fully reflect the church's canonical law. According to him, the charter includes the rules of the 11th century, while the church has established rules after that.
"Church's religious, canonical and doctrinal issues cannot determine no one, whether he is a bishop, scientist or secular. It is possible to discuss such issues within the framework of the National Church Assembly and the Episcopal Assembly. If we do not enter the depths of history, this is an officially established and a dedicated tradition enshrined in the second half of the 19th century. If a National Church Assembly is convened, which makes changes to another, it is a question, because this is the supreme body of the Church. Let me give a rude example, the same as to choose an alternative body instead of the National Assembly, which will make decisions on his behalf. He can't, because, because the foundations of the state, the structure do not dictate that way. Speaking about the possible rally under Pashinyan's led by Pashinyan, the clergyman noted that it is possible to plan steps against the church by human calculations, but he emphasized that the church is divine, not political.
"There will always be clergy in the Church, there will always be choseners who will lead the church according to God's will and program. Man intends to intend, God, provides. We do not decide.
