Comparing Georgia with Moldova is insulting. Kobakhidze - Borel

The head of the government of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, in response to the criticism of the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borel, called it "offensive" to compare Georgia with Moldova in a negative context, writes Sputnik Georgia.

As Borel stated, compared to Moldova, the picture in Georgia is gloomy. Actions, statements and pre-election promises of Georgia's ruling party move the country away from the European path and indicate a transition to authoritarianism.

"Therefore, the EU membership process is de facto suspended," he said. "These statements are temporary. We will not pay special attention to these statements. As for comparing Georgia and Moldova, you know that Georgia is ahead of Moldova in all aspects, be it democracy, human rights, economy," said Kobakhidze.

"As for democracy and human rights, it should be remembered that political parties and media have been banned in Moldova, and there are only two media left," said Kobakhidze.
