The United Kingdom has been revoked by the Ministry of Defense of Syria, as well as a number of intelligence agencies, which were established during the presidency of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad reported, citing notification spread by the British Ministry of Finance.
It is noted that the Syrian Ministries of Internal Affairs and Defense, as well as the General Intelligence Department, are among 12 organizations whose assets are no longer subject to freezing.
The notice did not specify the reasons for cancellation of sanctions. In March, the British government had revoked the frozen of the Central Bank of Syria and 23 other organizations, including banks and oil companies.
Earlier, the British government stressed that sanctions against supporters of Assad will be maintained. The West reviews its approach to Syria after the rebel forces led by Islamist Hayat Tahrir Ash-Sham in 2024. After more than 13 years of war in December, the government came to power.
