According to military expert Hayk Nahapetyan, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan left for India for the purpose of military-technical cooperation. Although nothing has been officially announced, the assumptions are as follows: “I can assume that it is more for the purpose of military-technical cooperation, because there are some contracts with some Indian economic entities that produce weapons and ammunition. I think it is more for the purpose of military-technical cooperation there. True, nothing is said about that, but the assumptions are most likely that way. We have signed contracts with India, but unfortunately, but the ammunition has not yet been purchased, there is a leak. Do you remember when the contract with India was signed, and such information is usually a secret - what weapons the country is buying, from which country it is buying, in what quantity, etc., because usually one can calculate the combat task set before the armed forces by the country's military-political leadership. "There have been several such leaks from India, which are not desirable," Nahapetyan said in an interview with Euromedia24.
On February 3, military doctors from the Ministry of Defense participated in a military exercise held at a US military base in Germany, while Armenia has repeatedly refused to participate in military exercises within the CSTO after the 44-day war. We asked Nahapetyan what the consequences of Armenia’s approach, when military exercises are held with the US but not with the CSTO, could be. Nahapetyan replied: “The CSTO was supposed to hold 3 military exercises here, which have not been held for 3 years. Armenia did not participate in the military exercises of the CSTO member states. Why are they there now, and why are the doctors? Armenia has a unit in an international peacekeeping mission, including in Kosovo and Afghanistan. Armenia was represented by sappers, doctors, etc., now this is in line with that logic. It is clear that these are military exercises of NATO member states, that is, Armenia is changing the security architecture at the hands of the current authorities and is participating in foreign military exercises, at the moment at the level of doctors, representatives of other branches of the military may participate in the near future,” said Nahapetyan.
According to the expert, this is part of the current authorities’ security strategy, and they are trying to engage in strategic cooperation with NATO member states in one way or another.
According to Hayk Nahapetyan, the end of it may not be very good, because the representative of NATO in our region is Turkey. "Since Pashinyan's policy is more aimed at close cooperation with Turkey, the establishment of relations, and it can be said that the current government has already adopted a line according to which Turkey should be dominant in the region, and naturally this is at the expense of our two neighbors: the Russian Federation, with which we are a strategic ally, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, with which we are a strategic partner," said Nahapetyan.
According to the expert, the goal of Pashinyan's government is for Turkey to occupy a dominant position in the region, that is, there is a collaborationist government in Armenia.
