In 2013, I remember, people used to transport each other in their personal cars, they didn’t use public transport, they boycotted using it.
And now they use it, but it’s still a semi-boycott.
Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan said this during a briefing with reporters during the break of the Yerevan Council of Elders session.
“I see people who, taking advantage of the opportunity, try to pay less or not pay at all, but not those who express a political position.
We urge drivers to be patient, not to give in to provocations, not to offend anyone, but let’s imagine that these people are not made of iron either, their nerves can give way in different situations,” he said.
Answering a journalist’s question about whether the city government would make concessions based on the results of the signature collection if the demand had been formulated more clearly, Grigoryan said:
"Collecting signatures on such a topic is another manifestation of political irresponsibility, because I am sure that when the question is asked in any society: are you in favor of something becoming more expensive or are you against it, people are always in favor of it not becoming more expensive."
