“Mr. Simonyan, when will I return to Artsakh, will I have the opportunity to see my homeland?” – this question was asked by a journalist from Artsakh to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan.
“When it is safe, of course. When we sign a peace treaty, when we normalize relations, that issue will be raised,” he said. When asked why he refuses the word “Artsakh” and says “Karabakh”, Simonyan replied:
“I am a politician and I am against, for example, a citizen of another country calling one of my cities by Turkish, Azerbaijani names and I must maintain the ethics of a politician.”
Simonyan also told the journalist from Artsakh: “You left there because it was not safe, although you could have stayed and fought to the end with the weapons that the Republic of Armenia had left. You had to fight, Armenia fought, you brought in a good government, who a few days later signed the abolition of that state.”
