Germany's Baerbock meets Israeli counterpart in Tel Aviv on her Mideast trip

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock met with her Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, in Tel Aviv on Friday (September 6) on the second day of her Middle East trip, Reuters reports. Baerbock is expected to meet with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa in Ramallah later on Friday. The visit is her eleventh trip to the Middle East since the October 7 attack on Israel. She held talks with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Thursday (September 5) and is expected to visit Saudi Arabia during the tour. Baerbock vows to combat anti-Semitism after Munich attack. "I expressed my deepest and full solidarity with Minister Katz in the view of the attack on Israel's consulate general yesterday in Munich. This is a terrible situation, this is a terrible moment for us, especially on the very anniversary of Munich 1972. Anti-Semitism aims at the heart of our society and we will not cease to fight this," Baerbock stated.
