SRC clarified the information about the material seized at the Sadakhlo checkpoint

The State Revenue Committee presented an explanation regarding the publications in the mass media regarding the narcotics confiscated by the Georgian law enforcement agencies at the Sadakhlo customs checkpoint.

"Before moving from the Republic of Armenia to Georgia, the mentioned caustic soda was transported to Armenia from the Islamic Republic of Iran by a truck, the weight of which was about 21,000 kilograms. Trucks with goods were subjected to X-ray examination at the border crossing points during entry and exit of RA. Also, in the customs control zone of the city of Yerevan, the products in it, which were more than 800 bags, were subjected to video inspection and random samples were taken from them, which were inspected by the SRC customs body, but no products prohibited by law were found. We consider it necessary to mention that caustic soda and methamphetamine type drug are almost impossible to distinguish from each other, because they are the same.

Before the truck left the territory of the Republic of Armenia, the relevant department of the RA SRC, in cooperation with the customs body of Georgia, informed the customs authority of Georgia what kind of cargo should be transported to Georgia, regarding which the two sides discussed the possible riskiness of the cargo.

At the same time, in order to get complete information about the discovery, an official request was sent to the relevant body of Georgia," the message says.
